Get Help    |   Give Help

Lord knows, there are times when we all need a helping hand. Here are a couple of success stories. If you know of others, please let us know; email our webmaster.
Recently, our chapter of SVDP heard from a man whose hours were cut back to part time. He'd had a flat tire and just couldn't come up with the money to replace it. Through our contacts, SVDP got it done.
In another recent case, a woman needed help with heat for her home. She had plenty of firewood, but was afraid to burn it until her chimney was cleaned. SVDP found a chimney sweep willing to help. Now she's warm and safe.

Here is a recent letter from someone in our parish(Names deleted...):

I am not sure how to go about getting any kind of help there is. My
husband is self employed and times are very tough. I received notices from all
utilities threatening cut offs, and there is no money being brought in. We have
not paid our rent this month, our car payment is late along with all other
bills. My young children run out of diapers faster than I can get money to buy
them. Right now any amount of money would greatly help us out as I fear we
may have to move out of our house and I am not exactly sure where we will go.
Please help if you can.

There are many such needs in our parish community, needs perhaps you can help with. It may be as simple as donating your used couch to a needy family (we have no storage space for such items but can arrange delivery) or helping a single mother with some groceries. This webpage is here to help connect those in need with those who can help! You don't need to be a member of SVDP, just a concerned individual who wants to lend a hand to someone in our community. All of this is done anonymously; you need not give your name. If you are having tough times and need a hand in some way, please don't hesitate to contact SVDP now.

Call 508-833-1555 or click here to send an email describing your need now. The only questions we ask are how best to help. To speed help to those who request it, we plan on posting on this page- anonymously - the needs we hear of, in hopes of making the connections that can make the difference.
